Thoughtful Therapy for Lasting Change

When the ways you’ve been coping no longer feel like enough

You may have managed getting through by pushing through - balancing work, relationships, caregiving, and the many responsibilities life asks of you. But eventually the strategies that once helped you cope may begin to feel less effective.

Therapy offers a space to slow down, look more closely at what’s happening beneath the surface, and begin moving toward the kind of change you’ve been hoping for.

Hi, I’m Dr. Teresa Matazzoni

I’m a licensed psychologist in California specializing in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, emotional distress, and relationship challenges. I provide individual therapy for adults, as well as clinical consultation and supervision for therapists. My approach is thoughtful, direct, and collaborative.

I employ Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with particular attention to helping people process and heal from trauma. Together you and I will work to understand the patterns and experiences that may be keeping you stuck and move toward meaningful, lasting change. I aim to create a space where you will feel genuinely heard, supported, and challenged in ways that support growth.

Therapy Can Help With…

People come to therapy for many different reasons. Often there is a growing sense that something in life no longer feels sustainable, or that patterns keep repeating in ways that are difficult to shift.

Therapy can help with concerns such as:

  • Anxiety and stress

  • Trauma and unresolved past experiences

  • Panic

  • Depression

  • Relationship challenges or major relationship transitions

  • Grief and loss

  • Burnout from work or caregiving responsibilities

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you

Some people begin therapy during a particularly difficult time, while others come simply because they want to understand themselves more clearly and move toward a life that feels more aligned with their values and goals.

How We’ll Work Together…

My work is focused on helping you to get unstuck so that meaningful change becomes possible.

In therapy, we may work together to:

  • Reduce the constant sense of hypervigilance or emotional overwhelm

  • Process difficult experiences or trauma that continue to affect your present life

  • Understand and shift long-standing patterns that no longer serve you

  • Develop clearer boundaries and reduce the pressure of constant self-blame

  • Reconnect with your values and the direction you want your life to move

Many of the people who come to see me are navigating complex moments in their lives. They may be dealing with the effects of trauma, burnout, relationship changes, grief, or a sense that something in their life is no longer working.

I draw from approaches including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). These approaches allow us to work both with insight and with practical strategies for change.

My role is to be engaged, thoughtful, and collaborative in the process. I will help you explore what is happening while supporting you in moving toward the shifts you want to make.
